Today we had an exciting and unexpected announcment, well I guess not to unexpected. While I was on my break at work I decided to check my email and saw one from our realator. The owner of the property we bid on accepted it, as offered! I was so excited I had trouble focusing during the next few hours of the work day. By now you must be wondering how we could plan to move and plan if we did not have the property yet... Well, basically we were sure that we would have it. This piece of land was on the market for over a year with no offers on it. Out on the scablands bare land does not sale often, especially when priced over market value. We had previously bid market value for the property two times and the owner was not willing to reduce his asking price and we would not go higher. This third time we were ready to negotiate if he countered and hoped he would reduce his price, but we never expected him to accept our original offer. That is the best surprise we could have recieved.
We were told by several people to just pay what he was asking, after all it was only a $4,000 differance. What those people do not realize is that differance was an extra 20%, and we are on a restricted budget to not only buy the land, but to install a driveway, build a home, have some energy source and water. That differance can buy a lot of other things we need for the homestead. Now sometime over the next three weeks the land will be transferred over into our names and we will officially own our Scablands Homestead.
